The owner and principal designer has consistently been involved in all creative aspects of the beauty industry since 1982. He has held the position of creative director in New York and California for many of the major treatment, fragrance and cosmetic houses. His focus has been the design of bottles, packages, merchandising and advertising. You will find his signature on well known designer brands such as, Princess Marcella Borghese, Bill Blass, Diane Von Furstenberg, Dior, Lancaster and Fred Hayman Beverly Hills. Also included are more house hold products such as Domino Sugar and Wolford Lingerie. He has created lines for small developing firms, and award winning designs for international corporations.
Most recently Joel has spent close to six years working for the U.S. division of Clarins Paris as Sr. Director of Creative Services and the U.S. liaison to the global design team. During his time at Clarins, Joel managed the creative team, and produced designs for all departments including marketing, sales, education, public relations and the retail skin spa team.
In addition to the above responsibilities, while at Clarins he also directly managed the design and creation of all shop-in-shop needs including designing of all lamps, chairs and desks. Averaging eight installations a year provides Dawson Design with a strong background in shop-in-shop design and management skills.
After 20 years as an in-house creative director, Joel decided it was time to leave the corporate environment and take advantage of all of the connections created over the years. He has developed these relationships into an alliance that shares an understanding of work styles and production capabilities.
